For prayers today, we are going to put the Rimbo family in the center of this gathering. We will offer a prayer for them and in between each prayer—we will sing a response that some of us in the room learned from Linwood Monroe Arts Plus Elementary School. It goes like this: Go well and safely, go well and safely, go well and safely and peace be ever with you. It just makes sense that we them off, doesn't it?
The Lord be with you all (and also with you)
Let us pray:
Creator God, we give thanks for Angie, Justin, Owen and Zoe. For the love they have for one another, for us and for you, God. We ask for patience and kindness for the Rimbos in the next months of transition. We pray that the Rimbos go well and safely. (We sing)
Sustainer God, we give thanks for Justin and his leadership in our community. For being faithful to the Gospel, for helping us sing so well, for pushing us to take risks and trusting that we can handle them. We are grateful for Justin's ability to lead by getting out of the way, for his humble and gracious heart, for his intuitive reading of where we are, for his responding to every idea with: “Yes, AND...!” for his rowdy laughter and bringing us the gift of Cockney Jesus. We pray that the Rimbos go well and safely. (We sing)
Loving God, to turn away from you is to fall, to turn toward you is to rise, and to stand before you is to abide forever. Grant us, dear God in all our duties your help; in all our uncertainties your guidance; in all our dangers your protection; and in all our sorrows your peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. We pray that the Rimbos go well and safely (we sing).
