Ring of Fire

Ring of Firering-of-fir

The craziest things happen when we gather for worship. Pentecost Sunday was no exception. We celebrated the Holy Spirit arriving with tongues of fire and a reversal of the Tower of Babel. Since this is the day when God birthed the church in a fiery furnace of love, we went ahead and played a birthday party game complete with balloons. Johnny Cash showed up during the offering.

This month, we are taking liturgy—the work of the people—quite seriously as we create our Pentecost liturgy together. You can be a part of the madness by coming to worship. But don't think you can just show up and absorb passively. You will be put to work. Power to the People!

One of the wilder components to this summer's worship is a mess of hand drumming. We meet for a prelude drum circle at 3:45PM. It's amazing to see/hear/feel the amount of hand-drummers that have come out of the woodwork. All ages and abilities seem to find their way into the circle. Man, ain't that just like church? Man, ain't that actually church?
